With all the recent chaos within the cruise ship industry, it is very interesting to examine what marketing techniques the cruise line companies are using to either deal with disaster or take advantage of a competitor’s misfortune. In fact the entire realm of cruise ship marketing can be very useful information. Read More
Resort/Hospitality Archives - Frederick Swanston
We’re incredibly proud of the partnership we helped develop between us, Frederick Swanston Advertising, the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders, IBEROSTAR Hotels & Resorts and the Riviera Maya Tourist Board. Together, we created TV, radio, Game Day events, online advertising, stadium signage, a digital campaign and a Dallas Cowboys Cheerleader Camp for aspiring young cheerleaders. This partnership peaked in an incredible photo shoot in April, for the coveted 2013 Dallas Cowboys Cheerleader calendar, which was held at our client’s breathtaking IBEROSTAR Paraíso Maya Resort in Riviera Maya, Mexico as the backdrop. I came across an article on state tourism marketing yesterday, and the headline read Virginia Tourism: Instant Revenue Generator. The reason I found that headline interesting was because my state – Georgia – had just announced that they were slashing marketing dollars budgeted for the state’s tourism and travel marketing program. Contrary to popular opinion, all vacation travel is not automatically booked on the Internet these days. In fact, a recent study by Travel & Leisure confirms what our Iberostar Hotels & Resorts client already recognized: the average person booking travel online visits 21 sites during nine sessions when preparing for a trip. This represents an information overload that is daunting to most people and often leads to decision paralysis. But what is the alternative? It’s Travel Agents! More and more people are rediscovering that the knowledge and expertise of travel professionals are a tremendous asset, not only to securing the best rates, but in taking the guesswork out of picking the best destinations. Like a lot of folks, Freddy Swan has been cutting back on unnecessary expenditures lately. One area where many people have cut back is on magazine subscriptions. This is partly because of the expense, but it is also because many people simply don’t have the time they used to have to sit and leisurely read a magazine. Freddy is down to reading Time, which comes once a week, and little else. Except I keep getting magazines I don’t remember ever subscribing to – Sports Illustrated, Travel and Leisure, Money and more. Maybe I should look into cancelling them? Read More
Are the cool, fall temperatures cutting into your tennis time? Why not play in warm Cancun, Mexico at the luxurious new IBEROSTAR Cancun resort? Oh, and did we mention – you and a companion have a chance to go there for free! Read More
Brilliant sunshine, cool temperatures and a picturesque course meanders through Chateau Élan’s fabulous vineyards, stables, golf courses and beautiful estate homes. This Saturday’s 2nd Annual Vineyard Run for Hope has all the ingredients of a great day for a wonderful cause – raising money for Gwinnett’s Children’s Charities.
Starting and ending at the beautiful Chateau Élan Winery, the Vineyard Run will include a 10.2K, 5K and 1K Tot Trot. The 10.2K and 5K participants will travel along a picturesque course through the resort and into the gates of the Chateau Élan neighborhood. Participants will enjoy fabulous views, but more importantly the participants, sponsors and advertisers will be raising money in support of the Gwinnett Children’s Shelter. Entry fees are discounted for pre-registrations, and runners can register at participating local businesses or online at: http://www.active.com/running/braselton-ga/vineyard-run-for-hope-5k102k-and-1k-tot-trot-2011
All proceeds benefit the Gwinnett Children’s Shelter. The Shelter, which annually serves more than 200 young people residentially, grew out of a volunteer effort involving PTA, business and community leaders who recognized a need for services for abused and abandoned children. The Shelter depends on community donations to provide these services, and the annual Chateau Élan Tour of Homes event and now the Vineyard Run for Hope have been among their largest fundraisers for several years. Over the past nine years, the Chateau Élan community has welcomed thousands of visitors and raised over $1,000,000 for this very special charity.
Now that’s our idea of a good corporate citizen.
There is a widespread perception that the use of travel agents has diminished greatly since the advent of the internet. With the ability to virtually tour potential vacation destinations online, then use travel sites like Orbitz, Expedia, Travelocity, KAYAK and endless others to book vacations at discounted rates, is anyone still using travel agents?
