These anti-smoking ads are God awful. They poorly attempt to speak to the younger generation by playing terrible obnoxious dubstep and cruelly using outdated, overused memes from YouTube. This one sucks and they all suck. I am not the only one who is under 30 and says these ads suck. The memes they use have been used way too much already so when you put it in an ad they play over and over again – you see the same joke over and over again. It’s like seeing the same crappy meme more than once which you never want to do.
The three words by themselves aren’t funny or particularly catchy; it’s the vignettes that go with the words that make it funny and memorable. There’s a powerful message to be shared, but this spot just doesn’t provide the impact that it should.
